Volunteer with Emergency Social Services ESS

The District of Port Hardy is currently seeking volunteers to assist with our Emergency Social Services (ESS).

ESS help people and pets who evacuated their homes during emergencies or disasters like fires, floods, or earthquakes.

ESS volunteers assist at disaster sites and provide essential basic needs for evacuees at reception centres (evacuation shelters).

 

IS THIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU?

 

To volunteer for ESS, you should have the following qualities:

  • A concern for people affected by disaster
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to respond on short notice •Willingness to work as part of a team
  • A sense of adventure
