Smoking Regulation Bylaw

The District of Port Hardy Council is considering implementing a Smoking Regulation Bylaw No. 1068-2017. The Bylaw received first reading on July 11, 2017.
In the bylaw the following prohibitions will apply:
3.1 No person shall smoke in, at, on or within 6 metres of any of the following:
any part of a park within the District of Port Hardy;
- a bus stop;
- a customer service area;
- any designated public space;
- any outdoor workplace.
“smoke” or “smoking” means to inhale, exhale, burn, or carry a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, hookah pipe, or other lighted smoking device or electronic smoking device that burns tobacco, weed, or other substance.
Council will be considering this bylaw again at its upcoming regular meeting of Tuesday August 8, 2017 at 7:00 pm. All Council meetings are held at the Municipal Hall located at 7360 Columbia Street Port Hardy, BC and are open to the public.
