We have big changes happening at Port Hardy Recreation! Our Community Outreach Coordinator, Naomi Heith, is now our Manager of Recreation and Community Services. Naomi grew up in Port Hardy, moved away, and has now been back for 3 years working as the Community Outreach Coordinator with the District of Port Hardy. Naomi says, "This position has been so much fun. It is diverse, non-stop, high energy, challenging, and rewarding. I started this position during covid and it made me happy to find ways to be creative and bring people together. The position has really grown over the years with the community being excited for different programs, talented people lending their expertise in teaching, finding ways to spread the news through our Recreation Guides, and continuing to expand on what we offer for recreation." Naomi is excited for what this next chapter will bring. She says, "I am grateful for this opportunity, my heart has always been for people and helping to make this world a better place. I work alongside a great group of staff who work hard to ensure that programs and events are executed well and that the building is maintained and developed to operate at full capacity. I look forward to continuing to listen to the community, connecting with the various user groups and finding ways to support staff and others to make Port Hardy even better." Naomi says, "I will really miss being a part of programs like my dance classes, After School Club, and festivals, it does the heart good to be surrounded by little ones. However, I will stop in and say Hello and look forward to attending events with my family and having a dance party in my office from time to time." 🙂If you are interested in joining our team, click here to see our full time job posting for the Community Outreach Coordinator: porthardy.ca/job-posting/community-outreach-coordinator-2/Thank you Port Hardy and the North Island for your continued support in all things recreation. We appreciate you. ... See MoreSee Less

Pool Update AnnouncementWe are hopeful that we are in the final stages of the Grand Opening and are excited for that day! Just a few more things need to fall into place. We know that we had planned a Pro-D Party and Youth Party for May 2 and 3 as we truly thought we would be open by then. Those that are registered for those two events, keep a look out for an email in the next few days with our plans to reschedule both of the parties plus a free event as a "thank you" for understanding.🌊 Important Update: Pool Opening Delay 🌊While we hadn’t set an official opening date, we anticipated hosting programs next week when we built the guide in March. However, we regret to inform you that the pool’s opening is delayed due to ongoing project completion and necessary equipment adjustments, particularly with the boiler. Despite our best efforts, we’ve encountered challenges getting the boiler commissioned. We assure you the water is in the pool and ready to be heated, but delays in supply, trades, and reengineering have pushed back our timeline. We’re working diligently to determine a new completion date, factoring in final commissioning, inspections, and staff training. Those registered for May 2nd and 3rd will be notified promptly of the new date once confirmed and we are working hard to shift to create fun in place of the pool on both days. We understand and share in your disappointment, appreciate your patience, and will keep you updated. Thank you for understanding.Port Hardy Recreation #porthardy #iwanttogoswimming #wedotoo ...
