    Cultural Tourism

There is a rich potential for cultural tourism in the area. With ancient artifacts, historical sites, rich traditional knowledge, traditional foods and museum-quality native artwork there is a lot to offer.  The area also has a beautiful oceanfront location, islands and historic trails to explore, an abundance and variety of marine (humpback, gray, minke and killer whales, sea lions, porpoises, dolphins, etc.) and wildlife (bald eagles, black bears, cougar, deer, elk, etc.).

Cultural tourism is a potentially profitable business sector, and the three local First Nations bands (Kwakiutl, Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw, and Quatsino) are currently exploring potential business opportunities as relates to this sector. The bands are eager to talk with investors who are interested in starting or growing tourism-related businesses in their traditional territories.
