Winter Driving – Are you prepared?

November 03, 2025

Preparing for Winter Road Conditions

Now is the perfect time to start preparing for winter driving. As colder weather approaches, snow, ice, fog, and changing road conditions can make travel more challenging. Taking a few steps now can help keep you, your passengers, and others on the road safe in the months ahead.

Get Your Vehicle Ready

Before the first snowfall, check that your vehicle is winter-ready:

  • Tires: Ensure you have good tread and consider switching to winter tires.
  • Wipers and Fluids: Replace worn wiper blades and top up your windshield washer fluid and antifreeze.
  • Emergency Kit: Pack a kit with essentials such as blankets, a flashlight, snacks, a shovel, and warm clothing.

Drive Safely

Once winter conditions arrive:

  • Plan ahead and allow extra time for travel.
  • Check road conditions and weather updates before leaving.
  • Slow down and maintain a safe following distance.
  • Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns to prevent skidding.
