    National Drowning Prevention Week

    July 20 at 12:00 am - July 26 at 11:30 pm

Hosted by the Lifesaving Society, National Drowning Prevention Week is a reminder of the importance of water safety for all ages. Drowning is one of the leading causes of preventable death in Canada, and most incidents are avoidable with the right knowledge and precautions.

Water safety isn’t just for lakes and pools—bathtubs can also pose serious risks, particularly for young children and older adults. Always stay within arm’s reach of children in or near water, and never leave them unattended in the bath, even for a moment.

Take time this week to learn about water safety, supervise children closely, and wear a lifejacket when boating. Whether you’re at the beach, in a boat, or at home, staying alert and prepared can save lives.
